Thank You for Your Show of Support for the Buckhead Library

Numerous Buckhead Library proponents, including many AIA Atlanta members, attended the Fulton County Commission meeting on July 2, 2008 to show their support for saving the design-award winning building from demolition.  During the public comment portion of meeting, opinions were voiced against selling, re- building or making any other change to the Library as originally designed.  It was made most clear that the community wants to keep the Buckhead Library as part of their cultural heritage that values both the past and future of the area.  In the end it was decided by the Commission that no action would be taken.  This does not mean however, that the story ends here but that it simply takes a break for now.  AIA Atlanta will continue to monitor this issue and keep its members informed of any future developments.
